Eight to depart Meadow Lane this summer

League Two champions Notts County are set to release eight out-of-contract players this summer. The Magpies have had a dramatic season but they clinched the title under the stewardship of Steve Cotterill and will be playing in League One next year. But Russell Hoult, Kevin Pilkington, Jamie Clapham, Matt Hamshaw, Ben Fairclough, Ade Akinbiyi, Sean Canham and Delroy Facey are now all set to leave Meadow Lane. Manager Cotterill admitted it was a tough decision to let the players go, and thanked them all for their efforts this term. "Obviously I would like to go on record and say a big thank you to all of the players this season," he told the club's official website. "Unfortunately, on the back of contracts ending and promotion gained, there are obviously going to be changes to the squad. "Every single one of the players not offered new terms has been an integral part of Notts County's successful season. "I'm sure that every player will get fixed up with a new contract at a new club and I would like to send them my personal best wishes." Meanwhile, County have offered new contracts to trio Stephen Hunt, Craig Westcarr and Mike Edwards.
