SPL new boys St Johnstone have made an enquiry for Dundee United full-back Danny Grainger.
The 22-year-old joined United from Gretna in January 2008, but struggled for first-team opportunities last season.
The arrival of Paul Dixon restricted Grainger to just nine starts in the SPL and he could now be offered a move to St Johnstone.
United boss Craig Levein confirmed there has been contact from the Saints, although the club have yet to make a firm offer.
"We have had a phone call from St Johnstone about Danny Grainger," Levein told the Evening Telegraph.
"At this stage, it is only an enquiry and there has been no bid, so there is nothing more to say."
