McCarthy wields the axe at Molineux

Wolves boss Mick McCarthy has begun his overhaul at Wolves after letting Gary Breen leave and putting five others up for sale. McCarthy is looking to reshape his squad for next season after narrowly missing out on reaching the play-offs this term. Former Sunderland defender Breen will leave Molinexux on a free transfer after being informed his contract would not be renewed. Jay Bothroyd, Rob Edwards, Stephen Elliot, Darren Potter and Darren Ward have all been placed on the transfer list, joining Freddy Eastwood in the shop window. McCarthy admits he has decided to let the six move on so that he free up space for planned summer additions. "We want to make some changes and freshen things up, so we need to generate places for new players by transfer listing some of the squad," McCarthy told the club's official website. "These players themselves will want regular first-team football to develop their own careers." One player staying at Molineux is defender Jody Craddock after the club took up the option to extend his contract by a further year and they are also in talks with Michael Gray about a new deal.
