Goalkeeper Tony Caig has left struggling SPL side Gretna and signed a four-year contract at MLS Champions Houston Dynamo.
Caig only arrived in Scotland in October 2007 after protracted contract negotiations, which required him to sign as an amateur as the transfer window had closed preventing clubs from bringing players in.
However, despite the considerable effort required to complete the move from the Vancouver Whitecaps, he is now set to make a swift move back across the Atlantic after just nine appearances.
Gretna director of football Mick Wadsworth has revealed that the club were prepared to let Caig go after the progress made by young understudy Greg Fleming.

"Long consideration was given to this opportunity for Tony, Wadsworth told the club's
official website.
"This offers him and his family security both on and off the field.
"One of the issues raised was the terrific development that Tony has overseen of Greg Fleming.
"He has gone from being a rookie goalkeeper to playing in the SPL and gaining international recognition.
Development
"As a consequence of Greg's progress, we felt that Tony could inhibit his development further by staying in the team and it is an opportunity to promote Greg back into the No.1 jersey.
"The club wishes Tony well and we would like to thank him for his work both on the field and particularly on the training ground.
"A second goalkeeper will be acquired, initially as understudy but hopefully to challenge Greg. A further announcement will be made in due course."
