Chester City remain hopeful of securing Carlisle United striker Derek Holmes' services, this time on loan.
The Blues agreed a deal for the 28-year-old before the transfer window closed, however, the deal collapsed over personal terms.
Chester supremo Stephen Vaughan now wants to try and bring in Holmes again if The Cumbrians let him leave when the emergency loan window opens.
"We were in for him and we were hoping he'd come in on loan but it broke down on personal terms," explained Vaughan.
"We're willing to take his wages over and we'll take him if the lad will come. The club has agreed to let him out on loan, it's whether he'll come."
