Carlisle United striker Karl Hawley is out for up to five weeks with a broken rib.
The former Walsall hit-man sustained the injury during Saturday's 5-1 defeat at Crewe Alexandra.
The 24-year-old has been ordered to rest the injury and is unlikely to return until sometime in November.
"He went up for a challenge with the keeper and the injury is a result of that," Cumbrians physio Neil Dalton told the club's official website.
"I checked him out on Saturday night but, as he was not having any trouble with his breathing, we left him over the weekend.
"When he came in this (Monday) morning, I decided he needed an X-ray to be on the safe side, and he went for that this afternoon.
"Unfortunately that has confirmed that the rib is broken."
With Hawley injured, fellow Brunton Park striker Glenn Murray has returned to manager Neil McDonald's squad after a loan spell at League Two club Stockport County.
