Grimsby moved top of League Two thanks to their 1-0 Lincolnshire derby win over Boston.
Former Sunderland striker Michael Reddy (pictured) grabbed the only goal of the game with just 18 minutes left to send Russell Slade's men to the summit.
The Mariners started the day in third, but they took advantage of Wycombe and Carlisle's inability to win.
Previous leaders Carlisle were held to a goalless draw at fifth place Leyton Orient, while Wycombe came from two goals down to claim a 2-2 draw with Mansfield at The Causeway Stadium.
Jon Olav Hjelde (27) and Richie Barker (33) gave The Stags their impressive lead, but they could not hang on as Tommy Mooney (53) and Stefan Oakes (77) scored second half efforts.
Fourth placed Northampton were easily beaten 3-1 at Cheltenham - who are now back on the edge of the play-off picture.
Goals from Steve Guinan (38), Kayode Odejayi (45) and JJ Melligan (71 pen) put The Robins in control and Scott McGleish's late goal was a mere consolation for Town.
Darlington moved into sixth after they came from behind to claim a 1-1 draw with Bristol Rovers at The TFM Arena.
Junior Agogo (68) fired Rovers ahead, but The Quakers claimed a share of the spoils thanks to Simon Johnson's penalty with 15 minutes to go.
Peterborough are down to seventh after they lost 2-1 at Shrewsbury.
Danny Crow (pen 39) put Peterborough ahead, but The Shrews bounced back and second half efforts from Neil Sorvel (60) and Kelvin Langmead (87) gave the home side all three points.
The bottom two, Rushden and Stockport, are now within one point of safety after they both secured victories.
Rushden beat Notts County 1-0 with Czech striker Petr Mikolanda grabbing the winner.
Stockport travelled to North West rivals Chester and claimed a 2-1 win. Liam Dickinson's brace (76 & 89) sandwiched an effort from Ryan Lowe (81) to deliver the victory.
Third from bottom Torquay are again looking nervously over their shoulders after they went down 2-0 at Lincoln, who won thanks to goals from Scott Kerr (12) and Jeff Hughes (89).
The games at Bury, Macclesfield and Rochdale were all postponed because of frozen pitches.
