Beharall leaves Brunton Park

Defender Dave Beharall has left Carlisle by mutual agreement.

Defender Dave Beharall has left Carlisle by mutual agreement.

The 26-year-old joined The Cumbrians a year ago and was an integral part of the side that achieved promotion from the Conference.

However, Beharall has struggled to maintain his form this season, falling down the pecking order at Brunton Park and becoming frustrated at his lack of opportunities.

"Dave has explained that he needs to get back to the Manchester area for personal reasons so we have been able to come to an agreement," manager Paul Simpson explained to Carlisle's website.

"Looking further ahead, we knew that his contract was up in the summer anyway so it is beneficial for him and us, in the circumstances, for us to be able to have worked something out."

Meanwhile, goalkeeper Tony Williams has returned to Carlisle early from his loan spell at Bury.

The 28-year-old had agreed a one-month deal with The Shakers on January 9, but has been released after conceding eight goals in three games.
