Carlisle United moved into second place in League Two with a convincing 4-0 win over Bury at Brunton Park.

The Cumbrians were the only side from the top six in action and they took advantage with ease.

Paul Simpson's men had the match won by half time as Simon Grand (9), Zigor Aranalde (27) and Karl Hawley (pictured, 45) had put them 3-0 up.

Brendan McGill sealed the win with just seven minutes left.

Seventh placed Peterborough United closed the gap on the sides above them with a 2-0 success over lowly Rushden & Diamonds - who missed the chance to move out of the bottom two.

The Posh went ahead after 16 minutes through Dean Holden and sealed victory 15 minutes from time through James Quinn's penalty.

Notts County climbed to eighth after they overcame Darlington 3-2 at Meadow Lane.

Debutant Kyle Lafferty had given Darlington the lead just before the break, but Steve Scoffham levelled ten minutes later.

Daniel Martin put County ahead just nine minutes from time and Julien Baudet's penalty (86) proved crucial, as Carlos Logan pulled one back for Darlington in the final minutes - but it was not enough.

Wrexham needed a last minute strike from Mark Jones to salvage a draw at home to Lincoln City, after Simon Yeo had given the visitors the lead.

Boston United moved towards the top half of the table with a 3-1 win over Macclesfield Town.

Stewart Talbot put The Pilgrims ahead after 14 minutes before Lee Canoville doubled their lead.

Jon Parkin pulled one back just after the interval, but Paul Ellender secured victory with ten minutes left.

Shrewsbury Town sealed a very good 3-0 win at Oxford United, with all the goals coming the second period.

Kelvin Langmead opened the scoring before Ben Herd and Jamie Tolley both struck in the final ten minutes to seal victory for Gary Peters's men.
