CARLISLE UNITED have signed Phil Hadland on a month's loan with a view to a permanent deal.

Hadland signed for Leyton Orient in the summer after leaving Rochdale under the bosman ruling, but he has failed to start a game since his switch to Brisbane Road.

He has become unsettled following is move to the capital and was looking for a return to his native North West.

Cumbrians boss Roddy Collins has been monitoring the skilful winger for some time and could make the move permanent if he impresses during his time at Brunton Park.

Meanwhile, Orient have signed defender Mikele Leigertwood from London rivals Wimbledon.

Leigertwood, 19, has been on the bench a number of times for The Dons this season, but is yet to make his first team bow. He is expected to make his O's debut in Tuesday's clash with Oxford at Brisbane Road.
