Swansea City boss Garry Monk admitted his disappointment not to have taken all three points from the clash with Newcastle, and felt that 2-2 was not a fair result.

The home side twice surrendered their lead at the Liberty Stadium, with Wilfried Bony and Wayne Routledge’s strikes cancelled out by goals from Magpies striker Papiss Cisse.

Having failed to secure all three points, Monk believes that Swansea’s lack of concentration cost them victory.

"We should have won the game, to be honest," he told Sky Sports.

"This is the league - the two chances they had were the two times we didn’t concentrate and we were punished for it. That’s what this league can do to you. There’s disappointment in the changing room but one point is better than nothing.

Garry Monk: Reacts to Swansea's 2-2 draw with Newcastle

"The possession was so easy, that the concentration lapsed a little. I talked to the players about managing the game - those moments when it is so easy for us to keep the ball.

"We have to do it properly and concentrate on keeping the ball. The two times we didn’t do it, were they two times we were punished."

Swansea had a number of chances throughout Saturday’s clash, and the Swans boss admits that his players need to be more clinical in front of goal.

He said: "We were in control and had enough chances to put the game to bed, but we never quiet did that and in this league you run the risk."
