Wilfried Bony claims to be fully focused on Swansea City at the end of a summer in which his future was called into question.

Having enjoyed a productive debut season in British football, which delivered 25 goals in all competitions, the Ivorian striker was said to have attracted plenty of interest.

Liverpool, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur were all linked with Bony at some stage of the transfer window, with all in the market for a proven marksman.

Swansea were, however, to stand firm and maintain that their most potent attacking weapon was not for sale.

Bony has no issue with having stayed on in south Wales, with the 25-year-old unaware of any formal offers for his services amid the regular rounds of speculation.

He said in the South Wales Evening Post: “Now it’s over.

“Before we were talking, but now it’s over so I have to focus on the team.

“There were some chances (that I might leave), but nothing concrete. I waited and nothing happened so now I am just focused on the team.

“My head is okay. I just want to repeat or do better than last season.”

Bony insists that transfer talk has not been a distraction for him or Swansea, with Garry Monk’s side having made an impressive start to the new season despite their leading frontman being yet to get off the mark.

“We can see from the games I played that the speculation didn’t affect me,” added Bony.

“I think I have started better than last season.

“The goals are not coming, but the team is playing well. I’m not affected and the goals will come.”
