Michael Laudrup admits the spiralling costs involved in buying British are making it difficult for him to bring fresh faces into his Swansea squad.
The Danish manager has money to spend, with the £15million sale of Joe Allen to Liverpool helping to line his pockets.
He is, however, finding out the hard way that funds do not go far in the Premier League transfer market, with player valuations having rocketed in recent years.
"For me, it's not a case of saying I have 14, 15, 16 or £100million to spend," said Laudrup.

"Or saying I have all this money so I need at least 80 per cent of it to buy a replacement, let's buy some big names.
"The bigger clubs, the players there don't want to leave and even players from other clubs in the Premier League are expensive.
"The problem is, for example, what would an offensive midfielder in the Premier League scoring 15 goals a season be worth? He would be worth more than the £2million we paid for Michu.
"We have to be careful not to always go for foreigners, but in Britain you would have an issue with value for money."
