Midfielder does not want to be 'warming anyone's bench'

Swansea City midfielder Mark Gower will consider leaving the club if he is not in Michael Laudrup's first-team plans. The former Southend United man was an important part of Brendan Rodgers' squad before the ex-Liberty Stadium boss' summer move to Liverpool. But it remains to be seen if features for Laudrup and, with his 34th birthday approaching in October, the midfielder does not want to waste the final years of his playing career. "It's going to be difficult for me," Gower, who has seen Swansea sign the likes of midfielders Michu and Jonathan de Guzman, told the South Wales Evening Post.

Working hard

"We've got a lot of midfielders. We have a lot who played very well last year and we have added one or two in that area. "All I can do is keep my head down and keep working hard, if my chance comes then I have to be ready. "I'd like to stay, but I'm coming towards the end of my career and I don't want to be warming anyone's bench. "I want to be playing while I still can so we will have to wait and see. I'm still working hard in training and I feel fit enough."
