Brendan Rodgers felt Swansea produced almost the 'perfect away performance' after picking up a goalless draw at Newcastle.

The Swans had to withstand long periods of pressure at St James' Park, especially in the first half as Newcastle created a number of good chances.

They successfully kept the Magpies at bay and then became more of an attacking force in the second half, with Scott Sinclair spurning the chance to seal all three points.

Rodgers was nevertheless delighted to keep an eighth clean sheet of the season, which is the highest number in the Premier League this season.

Incredible

"It is an incredible achievement, and it just comes on the back of a real team ethic and hard work from the players," he told Sky Sports.

"It was a terrific point for us, at what has proved to be a very difficult place this season."

Rodgers added: "It is a great credit to the players and the team that we were able to keep a clean sheet.

"It is the perfect away performance, to keep a clean sheet as long as you can and stay in the game, and then your own game starts to come to the fore.

"That is exactly what happened."
