Trotters new boy looking forward to taking in regular football

David Ngog believes he had to leave Liverpool for the good of his career and is determined to hit the ground running at Bolton. The French striker completed a £4million move to the Reebok Stadium on transfer deadline day, penning a three-year contract in the process. He is now preparing to open an exciting new chapter in his career, with it possible that he could make his Trotters bow against Manchester United this weekend. The opportunity to take in regular football convinced him that the time was right to make a move and the 22-year-old is confident he can realise his potential with his new employers. "I am at an age when I need to be on the pitch every week," Ngog told The Bolton News. "That's why I came here to play games and enjoy my football.

Improve

"The last six months I haven't played that much and this was the time to make a decision to have a new challenge to play more. I am still young, I need to improve. "When you are at a big club like Liverpool you always expect competition. I always tried my best. But for me, the decision to leave was one I had to make." Ngog found himself benched for much of his time at Anfield, but he is convinced that he has the ability to become a prominent performer in the Premier League. "You have less time to show what you can do as a substitute," he said. "But you try to change the game. It's not always easy. But you are still part of the team. "I did start games as well. It's in the past now and I am just focused on Bolton. "I always have confidence in my quality and what I am capable of doing. Now I have to produce this at Bolton and be consistent. "I play for me, I don't play for them. I have to prove to Bolton I deserve to play here not to anyone else."
