Scotland granted work permit

New Swansea striker Jason Scotland has been granted a work permit.

New Swansea striker Jason Scotland has been granted a work permit by the Home Office.

The Swans agreed terms with St Johnstone over the transfer of Scotland back in May, tying the player to a two-year deal.

However, the Trinidad & Tobago international has had to wait for a hearing by the Home Office before obtaining his work permit.

Swansea are now hoping to rush the paperwork through to allow Scotland to travel to their pre-season training camp in Sweden on Monday.

"It's absolutely fantastic news for us. We had a very good hearing; very professional," said Swans boss Roberto Martinez said.

"We were all delighted to hear the positive outcome and I am already excited about working with him.

"He will be a quality acquisition to our squad. Goalscorers are the most precious commodity in football and I believe we've captured one of the highest calibre."
