Stevenage Borough midfielder George Boyd has signed a new contract at Broadhall Way.

One of the Nationwide Conference's hottest properties put pen-to-paper on an improved deal with chairman Phil Wallace to keep him at the club until 2008.

Such a move is unlikely to put an end to the incessant transfer talk that surrounds the 20-year-old.

Only last month League One high-flyers Swansea City were linked with a possible £200,000 bid for the starlet who has emerged through the Hertfordshire club's youth ranks.

Wallace said: "George is a promising young player with a great future ahead of him if he continues to work hard.

"He's signed a new contract because he's enjoying his fooball here and knows that he's benefiting from the individual coaching he's receiving under Graham Westley to improve his speed, physique, stamina and mental strength.

"There will be a time for him to move on I'm sure, but we are keen to keep him to help us secure promotion and when he eventually does move, I wouldn't be surprised if it were directly into the Championship or Premiership."
