Iriekpen joined The Swans in the early weeks of the campaign on a three-month deal following his release from West Ham.
His displays in the rearguard prompted Flynn to explore the possibility of handing the 21-year-old a more permanent contract.
Talks have been ongoing for several weeks and Iriekpen has now signed a deal keeping him at the Third Division club until June 2005.
"We are delighted that we have been able to agree terms," Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins told the club's website.
"Izzy has impressed during his three months at the club and we are pleased that he joins a growing number of young players who we consider to be the future of the club."
Meanwhile, Swansea have extended the loan spell of Manchester United defender Alan Tate for a second month.
