Hill takes a swipe at Oldham

Rochdale boss Keith Hill has stuck the knife in to local rivals Oldham as the fall-out from last week's tempestuous derby continues.

Dale were beaten 3-0 last Tuesday at SportsDirect.com Park and Hill was upset by the behaviour of some of Oldham's players, with Connor Brown booked after his side's second goal for celebrating in the face of Ian Henderson, an act which Hill admitted he "didn't like". Results on Saturday - a win for Dale against Yeovil and Oldham's defeat at Bradford - means Hill's side have the upperhand in the standings between the two clubs and the boss was only too happy to remind everybody. "I would like to reiterate that we are currently four points above Oldham and we still have a game in hand," Hill said after the victory over the Glovers. "Whether you win or whether you lose you have got to have a dignity about you and if you work for a football club or work within a football club you should have manners and respect to wear the club badge. "I have no complaints about the result (against Oldham), absolutely not, there is nothing I could do, but there was a heavy dose of salt rubbed into the wounds by people involved at Oldham and I don't like that." Oldham boss Dean Holden withdrew defender Brown 15 minutes after his celebratory antics in order to protect him getting sent off. But Holden defended his player and insisted he was being provoked. "He likes to be the panto villain at times and I spoke to him before the game about that," Holden said. "He sometimes can bring problems on himself by getting too involved. "There was a little bit of naughtiness going on that was winding him up. "Then he reacted when we scored - I think he went up to the boy and there was nothing physical but he had a little verbal in his face, which we've all done, and he was booked for unsporting conduct. "There were four or five occasions from the same player on their team that never even got a talking to. "That's the way it goes. That's why we got him off with 15-20 minutes to go, I just felt he was one half-tackle away from getting sent off."
