New duo excite Blades boss

Sheffield United manager Danny Wilson is backing Jonathan Forte and Barry Robson to help kickstart the club's promotion push.

Southampton striker Forte, who started out at Bramall Lane, has returned to the club on loan until the end of the season and former Celtic and Middlesbrough midfielder Robson has signed a short-term deal until May. Both players stepped off the substitutes' bench in Saturday's home defeat to Coventry, which has left the Blades eight points behind top two Tranmere and Doncaster. "Jonathan made a real impact from the moment he was introduced," Wilson told the club's official website. "Supporters will have noticed he has changed since the last time he played for the Blades and that comes through experience. "He gives us exactly what we need, a threat in behind, genuine pace and his movement makes life tough for the opposition. "Barry is an old head and on the ball has real class. The fact he hasn't played for three months means we have to use him carefully initially to avoid him picking up a knock. "His first touch was the pinpoint corner for the equaliser, so again he has plenty to offer us and gives us something a bit different to what we already have. Hopefully with Barry we can get him up to full speed within a week or two." Wilson added he did not have any specific targets when the loan market reopens on Thursday.
