Blackwell grateful to Warnock

Kevin Blackwell has thanked Leeds boss Neil Warnock for agreeing to send teenagers Dominic Poleon and Zac Thompson out on loan to Bury.

Defender Thompson scored on his debut for bottom club Bury in a 1-1 home draw with Carlisle on Tuesday night when a stoppage-time goal denied Blackwell his first win since taking charge of the Shakers, while striker Poleon played for all but the final four minutes. "I can't thank Neil Warnock enough," said Blackwell, who played and coached under Warnock at various clubs, including Huddersfield, Bury and Sheffield United, during a 14-year period before their friendship cooled when the former opted to leave Bramall Lane in 2003 to coach at Leeds. "Neil has to take a lot of credit for what happened here on Tuesday evening. "He gave me an opportunity for me to get two players in that a couple of clubs were after so I have to thank Leeds United and Neil Warnock in particular. "The two young lads from Leeds were absolutely out on their feet after that. For them, the warm up matters, every time they train matters, when they travel in - it matters and I'm really pleased with both of them, the whole team."
