Burnley striker Alex MacDonald has signed a new contract to tie him to the Championship club for a further 12 months.

Reading defender Mills also poised to head to Turf Moor

Burnley striker Alex MacDonald has signed a new contract to tie him to the Championship club for a further 12 months. The 22-year-old, who ended last season on loan at Plymouth Argyle, returned to Turf Moor to start pre-season training earlier this month. And the Scotland Under 21 international, who scored four times in 18 appearances for Plymouth to help the club retain their place in the Football League, has now confirmed his place in Eddie Howe's plans for the upcoming season. MacDonald, who made seven appearances for the Clarets last season, follows Brian Jensen and Jon Stewart in committing to Howe's side this summer. Meanwhile, reports have claimed that Reading defender Joseph Mills is undergoing a medical at Burnley ahead of finalising a move to the club on a season-long loan.
