Barnsley clinch Smith loan

Norwich City midfielder Korey Smith has signed for Championship side Barnsley on a one-month loan deal.

Reds bring in their second midfielder in as many days

Norwich City midfielder Korey Smith has signed for Championship side Barnsley on a one-month loan deal. It is the Reds' second signing in a week, following Stoke midfielder Michael Tonge's decision to sign on loan until the end of the campaign. Manager Keith Hill has responded to losing key players Jacob Butterfield and Danny Drinkwater in recent weeks. Butterfield has been ruled out for the rest of the season after picking up an injury against Leeds United, while Drinkwater - who was on loan at Oakwell - has joined Leicester City. Smith has played just once for the Canaries this season as they lost 4-0 to the MK Dons in the Carling Cup in August. The 20-year-old was, however, an integral part of the squad that won promotion from League One two seasons ago. He will be available for six games and could make his debut in next Tuesday's home clash with Derby County. Barnsley slipped to a 3-1 defeat to Millwall last weekend, but remain just seven points off the play-off places in the division.
