Tranmere Rovers have brought in goalkeeper cover for injured Owain Fon Williams after securing Leeds' Paul Rachubka on loan.

Rachubka's stint in goal for the Whites was brought to an abrupt end following a series of blunders, leading to Simon Grayson bringing in Alex McCarthy from Reading.

The ex-Blackpool keeper will now have the chance to return to form with the League One side after moving to Prenton Park for a month.

Rovers boss Les Parry has thanked Grayson for allowing the shot-stopper to join the club at a time when cover is so desperately required.

"It's really unfortunate for Owain to pick up an injury when he was doing so well for us but we are lucky to be able to bring in a goalkeeper of Paul's experience at short notice," Parry told Rovers' official website.

"I'm grateful to Leeds manager Simon Grayson for allowing him to join us for a month."

Grayson accepts that Rachubka needs to get back on the playing field and he feels a stint out of the limelight is just what the 30-year-old needs.

"Paul needs to get out and play some games," Grayson told Leeds' official website. "Goalkeeping is all about confidence and there's no doubting that Paul's took a huge knock that night.

"But, as I've always said, he's an experienced goalkeeper, I brought him because I know what he is all about, and he has come back strongly in terms of what he has done on the training ground and in a behind closed doors game this week.

"The move to Tranmere is an ideal opportunity for Paul to get away from the limelight here and play some games, and hopefully get back to what he does best."
