Paul Dickov was delighted with the return of his captain after Oldham cruised to a 2-0 victory over struggling Wycombe.
Dean Furman made his first start for more than two months following knee surgery and he produced a man of the match display capped by a goal to add to James Wesolowski's opener.
Latics manager Dickov said: "Everyone is happy that Dean is back from injury and he gave us a real buzz in midfield.
"He is enthusiastic, he works hard and more often than not he makes the right decision on the ball which is not always as easy as it sounds.
"Dean does what you ask of him and he is a big factor for us on and off the pitch so you will always miss someone with his qualities.
"He took his goal very well and I am pleased with the team performance because we created a lot of chances and had 21 attempts on goal."
