Southampton have signed striker Jonathan Forte from Scunthorpe for an undisclosed fee.

The 24-year-old has penned a three-and-a-half-year deal and is reunited with boss Nigel Adkins, who brought the player to Glanford Park from Sheffield United in 2007. Adkins told the club's official website: "He's lightning quick. When I talk about quick players I always say 'Is he Jonno quick?' We've found that he's got pace, power, and he's got stronger and stronger. "He's had a bit part to play but he can play on the left or right wing or as a centre forward. He's got unbelievable pace and strength, he gets that ball and he runs with it in behind and he's scores goals. In training at times, some of the stuff that he does - he's unplayable. "He's experienced in the Championship now. He's had a good couple of years and is a player who is getting better and better and still only young. "He's always going to be a goal threat because of his pace. He's willing, he's got a great attitude, and I think he'll fit in excellently to the culture that we have at this football club. He's got a good physical presence about himself and we're delighted that he can come and join us. He's going to enhance the group of players we've got at this football club."
