Full-back pens new contract at Molineux

George Elokobi has signed a new three-year contract at Wolves, keeping him at the club until 2013. The deal also includes the option for a fourth year to be taken by the club should they wish to further prolong their association with the Cameroon-born defender. Elokobi still had 12 months left to run on his current contract at Molineux, but has extended that agreement by two-and-a-half years. Wolves boss Mick McCarthy is delighted to see the full-back put pen to paper, having witnessed him battle his way back from a serious knee injury that threatened to end his career in August 2008. "I'm absolutely delighted that George has earned himself a new contract which is a credit to his sheer hard work and determination," he told the club's official website.

Inspiration

"He's come back from a career-threatening injury and got back on the last day of the season we were promoted. "He's then contributed to our survival in the Barclays Premier League. "George is such a great character around the place and is an inspiration to anyone who ever gets injured in terms of how he has come back. "He is a really valued and respected member of the squad and I'm delighted to have him signed up. "He's got better and better and has just got a great desire to improve all the time."
