Late pen misery for Bees

Brentford squandered a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 with Oldham at Griffin Park

Brentford players were left bitterly disappointed after squandering a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 with Oldham at Griffin Park.

Defender Gary Richards opened up the scoring for The Bees on 59 minutes, converting a corner kick from Joe Keith with a fine header.

Keith then gave Brentford a further boost scoring the second in the game with only five minutes remaining.

Just one minute later Leon Clarke headed the ball into the back of the net at the opposite end to put Oldham back in the game.

And The Latics were awarded a last minute penalty after Brentford's Andrew Frampton handled  in the area.

Clarke stepped up and converted in stoppage time to close the scoring and break Brentford hearts.

The point leaves Brentford seven points adrift of safety and keeps Oldham in contention for a play-off place.
