Lomax lands Latics deal

Kelvin Lomax has been handed a contract at Oldham Athletic until the end of next season.

Kelvin Lomax has been handed a contract at Oldham Athletic until the end of next season after breaking into John Sheridan's first team ranks this term.

The 20-year-old right-back was released from Boundary Park in the summer by then manager Ronnie Moore, but on his subsequent departure, new incumbent  Sheridan offered Lomax an unexpected return.

Lomax was initially brought back on a non-contract basis, before being handed two short-term deals.

His future now, though, seems somewhat more assured with Sheridan having tied him down to a contract until the summer of 2008.

"Kelvin's come in and done very well," Sheridan told the club's official website.

"He's been in and around the first team and is a very intelligent footballer - the kind of player I like."
