Teenage defender Kelvin Lomax has been handed a three-month contract extension by Oldham manager John Sheridan.
The 19-year-old's current deal was due to expire this week, but he now has until February next year to prove he is worth a permanent deal at Boundary Park.
Lomax was released by former boss Ronnie Moore in the summer, but was brought back to the club by Sheridan and handed an initial three-month contract in August.
The right back has since made his way back into the first team following injuries to Neil Eardley and Chris Swailes.
He made his first-team debut for The Latics at the end of the 2003/4 season and made 12 appearances the following campaign before sitting out for a lengthy spell through injury.
