A second half goal from Shaun Harrad sent Nationwide Conference side Burton Albion through 1-0 against League Two Peterborough United, while Leyton Orient booked their place in the second round as they beat Chesterfield 2-1.
Burton are now at home to Burscough meaning that there will definitely be a non-league representative in the third round.
Leyton Orient booked their place in the second round as they beat Chesterfield 2-1 away from home. John Mackie opened the scoring for Orient in the 18th minute, but Kevan Hurst equalised for Chesterfield. However, Shane Tudor scored just before half time to put the London side through against a team one division above them.
Boston United cruised past Swindon Town 4-1 at York Street. Despite there being a league's difference between the two sides The Pilgrims were 4-0 up within 45 minutes through goals from Julian Joachim (10,23), Bradley Maylett (40) and Jason Lee, with Tom Heaton being sent off for Swindon. Rory Fallon converted a late penalty for Swindon but it was not enough to alter the result.
Oldham Athletic broke Chasetown hearts with a clinical display of finishing, winning 4-0. Paul Warne opened the scoring in the fist half before Chris Porter put the game beyond any doubt with a brace on 56 and 75 minutes and Christopher Hall sealed victory (84).
Steve Basham scored a hat-trick for Oxford United as they progressed at the hands of plucky Eastbourne Borough, beating them 3-0. He scored on 20, 46 and slotted home an injury time penalty to book Oxford a second round match away at Chetenham Town.
