Mixed news for Latics

Oldham have welcomed the news that Stefan Stam's operation was a success.

Oldham have welcomed the news that Stefan Stam's operation was a success, although Mark Bonner requires more tests on an arm injury he collected on Wednesday.

Stam, who has only recently returned to action following a hamstring strain, underwent surgery to repair knee damage and will now be sidelined for four to six weeks.

The defender collected the injury in The Latics' 1-0 win over Gillingham earlier this month, before missing their recent games against Bournemouth and Port Vale.

Meanwhile, Bonner collided with team-mate Rob Scott late on in Oldham's 2-2 draw with Port Vale and was helped off the pitch by physio Lee Nobes.

The 31-year-old was taken to hospital where a scan revealed a break in his arm and he will undergo an operation on Friday to insert a metal plate to help with healing of the broken bones.

Bonner will be out for up to six weeks with the arm fracture.
