Oldham Athletic have struck a deal to allow Jermaine Johnson to leave the club immediately.
Johnson has been in talks with The Latics for the past fortnight to discuss a settlement on the remainder of his contract at Boundary Park.
The Jamaica international's deal was due to expire at the end of the season but The Latics have now shipped the midfielder out of the club early.
Latics boss Brian Talbot recently bemoaned Johnson's attitude and that has been the prime factor in his exit from the club.
Johnson initially linked up with the League One side on loan from Bolton Wanderers in November 2003.
After impressing during his three-month spell on loan, the deal was eventually turned into a permanent arrangement prior to last season's transfer deadline.
During his entire Latics career, Johnson made 38 appearances for the club, scoring 10 goals, but the 24-year-old is now free to find a new team.
