Latics extend duo's loans

Oldham have extended the loan deals of Mark Hughes and Neil Kilkenny.

Oldham have extended the loan deals of Mark Hughes and Neil Kilkenny for a further month.

The young midfield duo now have contracts at Boundary Park until January 22 and they will both sample FA Cup action as Oldham take on Manchester City in the third round in the New Year.

Birmingham man Hughes and Tottenham teenager Kilkenny both made their Latics debuts in the 3-2 win over Barnsley - and they have not yet tasted defeat in a blue shirt.

Brian Talbot's side have won all six games that the duo have been involved in, and they have contributed greatly to their success.

Talbot says that he is delighted the Premiership sides have agreed to extened their loan deals for a further month.

"I would like to place on record my appreciation to Birmingham City and Tottenham Hotspur for agreeing to extend the loans of Neil Kilkenny and Mark Hughes," Talbot told the club's website.

"They have both made a significant contribution during the month that they have been here and I hope that their stay helps with the development of their career."
