Two in-form sides met at Prenton Park but it was Tranmere who took maximum spoils against Oldham Athletic.

Goals from strike duo Eugene Dadi and Iain Hume secured three points for Brian Little's side in a 2-0 victory over Brian Talbot's travellers.

In a tight first period, played in a blustery wind, Craig Mawson was called from The Latics' bench to make his debut after regular keeper Les Pogliacomi pulled up with injury.

Oldham's Jermaine Johnson spurned the best chance of the game minutes before half time and in the 65th minute was made to pay, when Dadi nodded in for the home side.

Earlier in the half David Eyres had rattled the post for Oldham, before talented Canadian Hume wrapped up the points with a cute curling effort.

Tranmere now occupy third place in the division, while Oldham remain in 16th.
