Dowie in need of defensive cover

OLDHAM ATHLETIC manager Iain Dowie is trying to bring in defensive cover following an injury to Will Haining.

The Latics boss is short at the back after Kangana Lord N'Diwa returned to Bolton Wanderers following the completion of his loan spell, and Haining's hamstring injury - sustained during Saturday's match at Hartlepool - means he will step up his efforts to bring in extra cover.

Young starlet Haining made himself a mainstay at Boundary Park last term after coming into the first-team midway through last season.

The stopper is expected to be out for up to three weeks with the injury.
