Yeovil chairman John Fry believes his newest managerial appointment can become a legend at Huish Park.

Paul Sturrock was appointed as the Glovers' new manager on Thursday afternoon and at his official unveiling Fry was boisterous about the impact the Scot can have and was keen to stress he will be given time to impress as they prepare for life in Sky Bet League Two. "We are here in the Legends' Lounge and my wish is for Paul Sturrock to be one of the legends that we can recognise in this bar," he explained. "It is a tall order and I am not putting pressure on the guy but he is capable of achieving it looking at his past. "He is ideal for Yeovil Town, he lives in the south west and the south west knows Paul Sturrock. "You have to remember in football at the moment with the Financial Fair Play rules it is really tough and I didn't realise how tough it was to keep a club up when you are in a relegation situation." Sturrock's appointment came at the end of an eventful week for the former Plymouth boss who had spent just four days over the Easter weekend in a role with fellow Devon outfit Torquay before being offered the role at Huish Park. And he was quick to thank the Gulls for their understanding. "I'd like to thank Torquay United," Sturrock said. "They obviously gave me an opportunity but there was no contract and at the end of the day I was in an advisory role, which I was quite happy to do, to restructure and help them recruit for next season. "Then this offer came along and it was a no-brainer really. I had a wee break from it and I feel like I am ready for the challenge again."
