Sturrock in Skiverton admission

Yeovil's new manager Paul Sturrock admits Terry Skiverton was apprehensive about his arrival at Huish Park.

Having been in interim charge of the Glovers since February Skiverton has now become assistant manager, just as he did following the arrival of Gary Johnson back in 2012, and coach Darren Way will also remain on board under Sturrock's tutelage. And the Scot, who will take charge of Town for the first time this weekend against Notts County, admits it was vital to keep the pair on board as they prepare for next season. "It is important that people who are committed to this football club are around and it is going to be a lot easier having those two involved day by day," he said. "They know how it has been run in the past and I'll just tweak it a little bit. "I've had several meetings with them, they were a wee bit worried about things but the chairman (John Fry) and myself have discussed it with them and they are totally committed to the cause and to Yeovil. "And it is important I have these types of people in the background." With the Glovers' relegation to League Two almost inevitable, Sturrock says he can learn a lot about the current squad in the final five games before his summer rebuilding project. "I'll be able to check which players would be running out of the trenches with me if we were in the First World War so I'll pick those ones," he explained. "The ones that are running the other way I'll move on. "Hopefully in the next three or four games I'll have a look at them and decide which ones are coming with us to League Two and which ones we are moving on. "There are lots of good training players, it is battle conditions I have got to see them in. There will be obviously changes because some of the players will not want to stay. "Next season is a fresh start in terms of putting my style of philosophy into the players so that is something we can push on and do." Chairman Fry says the length of Sturrock's deal is currently being discussed.
