Johnson praise for strike pair

Gary Johnson has hailed his strike pairing as one of the best he has managed as Yeovil prepare to face Bury on the final day.

If Johnson's Glovers are to reach the second tier for the first time in the club's history then the former Bristol City boss will need the partnership of James Hayter and Paddy Madden to keep firing. Madden, who signed a permanent deal in the January transfer window after being loaned from Carlisle, has netted 22 times and the experienced Bournemouth forward Hayter has been the perfect foil and chipped in with 15 goals himself. "That has been a massive partnership," Johnson said. "The pair of them have been fantastic. "They have scored 30-something goals between them, James Hayter has had one of his best goalscoring seasons and he is a clever footballer. "That cleverness has has helped Paddy, I'm sure. He is getting in the right areas and they are assisting each other. "They have been a great partnership and I have had a few great partnerships over the years but those two are definitely Championship standard as a pair." Yeovil have secured a play-off place ahead of the trip to Gigg Lane but a point would secure them a third or fourth-place finish, the highest in the club's history.
