Andy Williams feels he will start more first-team matches by joining Yeovil Town after rejecting a new contract at Bristol Rovers.
The striker has turned down the offer of a one-year deal to remain at the Memorial Stadium in favour of a two-year contract with the Glovers.
Over half of his appearances in League One this season have been as a substitute and he believes he would again have been starting the majority of games on the bench next term.
"Rovers could only offer me a one-year extension and a wage reduction, which obviously wasn't ideal," Williams told the
Bristol Evening Post.
"If I stayed there then I think I would have been in the same situation I was last season, which would have been starting most of the games on the bench. I'm nearly 24 and I need to be playing a bit more regularly.
"I talked to Yeovil's manager, Terry Skiverton, and we got on really well. He was open and honest with me, which I really liked. Like Paul Trollope, he is an ambitious young manager and this will be a new challenge for me.
"The chance of a two-year contract obviously offers me a bit more stability."
