Huddersfield reward young midfielder

Huddersfield have rewarded young midfielder James Berrett with a new three-year contract. The 20-year-old has impressed Terriers boss Lee Clark enough to earn an extended stay despite having made only 10 first-team appearances this term. Halifax-born Berrett still had a year to run on his existing deal but Clark was eager to tie down his services for a longer period. "I'm very happy to have James' long-term future secured to the club," Clark told the club's official website.

Going places

"I've talked to him about the situation and can see him playing a vital role over the coming season." Berrett added: "I think the club is going places and I want to be a part of it. "The main thing is that I'm enjoying my football. We have a good set of lads here and I love the fact I'm playing for my hometown club." Berrett made his Terriers debut as a second-half substitute at Oldham in April 2007 and his first full appearance the following January in a 2-1 FA Cup win against Birmingham.
