Yeovil Town boss Russell Slade has had a £20,000 bid for Accrington Stanley winger Gary Roberts turned down by the League Two newcomers.

The 22-year-old was a key figure in helping Stanley back into The Football League as Nationwide Conference champions last season.

Slade is a big admirer of Roberts and is looking to add the left-sided player to his ranks at Huish Park, but Stanley have described Yeovil's £20,000 offer as 'derisory'.

The former Grimsby Town boss will reassess the situation before making the consideration of a fresh offer for Roberts.

"He's got a lot of talent and scored a lot of goals and I've been tracking his progress," Slade told Radio Bristol.

"We're going to look at that situation again, and it might mean we've got to tweak things, but I've got the backing of the board."
