The U's moved three points clear in the third automatic promotion spot after a 2-1 win against Kidderminster Harriers at The Kassam Stadium.
Steve Basham gave Ian Atkins' men the lead after just seven minutes but The Harriers levelled on the stroke of half time through Adam Murray.
Paul McCarthy popped up with the winner on 77 minutes to move Oxford three points ahead of Mansfield in third place.
Yeovil Town missed the chance to strengthen their play-off position as they were held to a 2-2 draw against Macclesfield Town at Huish Park.
Matthew Tipton put The Silkmen ahead from the penalty spot after 20 minutes but the lead lasted just ten minutes before Jake Edwards levelled for the hosts.
Martin Carruthers put the visitors back in front on 39 minutes and The Glovers had to wait until the hour mark before grabbing a point through Darren Way.
Struggling Darlington recorded a welcome win at home to Rochdale as Chris Hughes gave them a 1-0 win with ten minutes left to play.
The win was not enough to drag The Quakers out of the drop zone but they are now just a point behind Southend.
The final game of the day saw Cheltenham Town grab a 1-0 win at home to Leyton Orient courtesy of Paul Brayson's strike on half time.
