Blackpool have secured the services of Accrington Stanley defender Tom Aldred on an emergency loan deal.

The contract has been pushed through in time for the 24-year-old to face Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday, with a permanent move to follow.

After rising through the ranks at Carlisle United, the centre-half had spells with Watford and Colchester United, before joining Stanley two years ago, where he worked with Blackpool coach Paul Stephenson.

He really made his mark with the League Two club, making 92 consecutive starts for Accrington.

After sealing his loan transfer to the Tangerines, Aldred said: “After having various moves as a young player I definitely need to stabilise my career.
