Wilson hoping to make three new signings over the next week

Sky Sports understands Middlesbrough defender Tony McMahon has travelled to hold talks regarding a move to Sheffield United. McMahon is out of contract at Middlesbrough and has been unable to agree a new deal after previously being linked with Swansea City and Wigan Athletic. The 26-year-old has made over 130 appearances during his Boro career and has previously undertaken a loan spell at Sheffield Wednesday in 2008. However, he could now be joining the Owls' local rivals United after heading to South Yorkshire to discuss a deal with the League One club. Meanwhile, Blades boss Danny Wilson has confirmed that he is hoping to add up to three new signings to his squad over the next week. "Hopefully, possibly by the end of next week, we'll have been able to bring two and perhaps three new faces in," Wilson told the Sheffield Star. "That's what we are working on now and, fingers crossed, we are able to get something done. "Listen, it's no secret that we need to get a few more people on board because we are light in certain areas."
