Wolves chief executive Jez Moxey has expressed his doubts as to whether the club will be able to cash in on departing players during the January transfer window.
Strikers Andy Keogh and Leigh Griffiths - on loan at Leeds and Hibernian respectively - are two players that the Molineux side could be looking to sell, but Moxey believes other clubs are struggling to find funds.
It seems the possible departures of Keogh - who is out of contract in the summer - and Griffiths - yet to start a Premier League game since arriving from Dundee almost a year ago - are unlikely to boost manager Mick McCarthy's own transfer funds.
"Apart from the really big clubs, no-one seems to have any money," said Moxey. "The message we're getting is that there is very little money around in the marketplace.
"Outside of the really big clubs, I think we're seeing already the fact that not much money's going to be spent. I think it's a reflection of the economy generally."
But Moxey is confident that Wolves themselves will be able to attract players to the Black Country during the transfer window, adding: "We're hoping we can sign more players."
Wolves start the New Year with a visit from Chelsea in the Premier League on Monday, followed by a trip to local rivals Birmingham in the FA Cup.
