Sheffield Wednesday boss Gary Megson is in the hunt for a striker after it was confirmed Gary Madine has been ruled out with a broken toe.

Madine, 21, who has scored 11 goals in 19 appearances for the Owls this season, sustained the injury during the weekend win at Tranmere. Megson told the club's official website: "Losing Gary for six weeks with a broken toe is a blow. "I've been given the go-ahead to try to get a centre forward, which we're trying to do. "Sometimes you have to take a player who can do a job in either of two positions." Madine has partnered Chris O'Grady up front in recent weeks, while Megson also has Ryan Lowe and Clinton Morrison at his disposal.
