Striker suffers fracture above eyebrow in Southampton draw

Derby County forward Steven Davies is likely to be out for six weeks after suffering a head injury in Saturday's 1-1 draw against Southampton. Davies picked up the injury towards the end of the game at Pride Park and is to undergo surgery after suffering a fracture just above the eyebrow. The 23-year-old, who missed the first half of last season with a knee injury, is Derby's top scorer in the Championship this term with five goals. He could now be sidelined until December and Rams boss Nigel Clough is disappointed to have lost the services of Davies. "It's a bitter blow for Steven, who has been injury-free since January and looked in great shape," Clough told the club's official website. "He's been our talisman up front this season and he's scored plenty of goals for the team and he will be missed."
