Striker confident club can keep up with Championship pacesetters

Derby striker Steven Davies is confident the club can handle the pressure and can keep pace with the early frontrunners in the Championship. The third-placed Rams will host leaders Southampton when league action resumes on Saturday following the two-week international break. Davies, the club's top scorer with five goals this season, sees no reason why Derby cannot retain their lofty status. "We are about to face some teams with momentum behind them in the next few weeks, but we won't be approaching any of them with any sense of fear," Davies told his club's official website. "We have played without fear so far this season and look where that has taken us. We are right in the mix. "We know it is a big challenge to stay where we are, but I'm sure we will see what this team is made of and if we keep doing our best and keep putting the effort in, we have every chance. "Anyone who has seen us play this season will know the pressure has not got to us. Playing for a big club brings pressure, but I think the only pressure we feel is what we put on ourselves, and that is the way we like it."
